If you live in the ASVFD response area a number of different emergency response agencies may respond to an emergency scene. It may be ASVFD or one of the other departments that we mutual aid with. In the event of a medical emergency it could also be East Texas Medical Service.
For this reason we ask every resident of our area to be sure that your 911 street address is prominently displayed. Your street address should be in at least 3” numbers, on both sides of the mail box. If you do not have a mail box at your residence or place of business, your 911 address should be displayed on a sign at the location where your mail box would normally be.
Please check your mail box and be sure an emergency vehicle could read your number if approaching from either direction.
Make sure trees and bushes are trimmed so your address is not obscured. The extra minute or two it may take to turn around and arrive at the proper address could make a lifesaving difference.
Please contact ASVFD if you need assistance placing your 911 address sign.
